Welcome to John Kirkhope & Co.
Prior to qualifying as a lawyer, I worked for many years in the financial services industry, during which time I qualified as a Chartered Insurer and a registered Trust and Estate Practitioner. I had and continue to have a particular interest in Trusts, Taxation and Cross Border Issues.
I qualified as a solicitor in 2000, although I choose not to practice as such any more, and then qualified as a Notary Public in 2004.
There were two guiding principles when the firm was established. Firstly that overheads should be kept to a minimum in order to ensure value for money for clients. Secondly that the firm would specialise in areas of law in which I have particular knowledge and skills and could focus my time to the benefit of clients. As a consequence, the firm not only has many valued individual clients, but also has acted as an adviser to a number of law firms and other organisations.
Much of the work we do is on a fixed fee basis so clients can be reassured that they are not going to face any unexpected costs later on.
My firm specialises in the following areas of law:
- Notarial Services
- Wills and Probate
- Care Home Fees planning
- Lasting Powers of Attorney
- International Estates
- Trusts and Trust disputes
- The Laws of Cornwall, Duchy of Cornwall and Cornish Stannary Law
